Take a fascinating tour of the former winter home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington. Archer, son of transportation magnate Collis P. Huntington, and Anna, world-renowned sculptors, came to the South Carolina coast in 1930 seeking a warmer winter climate. From the decrepit remnants of 4 former rice plantations, they carved what is now Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens. Along the way, they did much to help their adopted community survive the despair of the Great Depression. Their Moorish-inspired "castle" is now a National Historic Landmark.
